    Ruben Azatyan dreamed of becoming a poet. It turned out, however, that he had no poetic talent. Hardly surviving his failure, Ruben goes to production.   • Story
    In 1930, the wife of a young worker Suren, Mariam, gave birth to a son. Soon Suren left for the village to carry out collectivization. From there he did not return – he was killed by his fists. And Mariam was left alone with the child in her arms. She tried not to deny anything to her Ashot. Later, she fell in love with the postman Vartan. But because of Ashot’s selfishness, she had to give up her love. After the war, Ashot graduated from high school, then institute in Leningrad. There he got married and stayed to live. Mother sometimes received money orders from him, but not a single letter. But one day he called Mariam to him. At first, the mother was happy, but from a casual conversation between her son and his daughter-in-law, she learned that Ashot had shown sensitivity in order to get a recommendation to the party. Mariam realized that she had crippled the soul of her son with her reckless love.

Ambartsum Beknazaryan
– People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR, Laureate of the Stalin Prize. At one time he was considered the star of Russian silent cinema and starred in more than seventy films. However, he is better known as a director and screenwriter. He is responsible for the creation of the first Armenian feature film. This is the film “Namus” (“Honor”), shot by Bek-Nazarov in 1925, based on the novel of the same name by A. Shirvanzade. The film was first released in April 1926. “Namus” is a silent black and white movie, and the first Armenian sound film “Pepo” was filmed in 1935. In 1963, the first color fiction film “The Way to the Arena” was created at “Armenfilm”. This fall, in the city of Armavir, the film festival “Kinoosen 2012” was held, which was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Ambartsum Ivanovich Bek-Nazarov. The festival opened with a screening of his film Pepo.
